How to Choose a Ski Simulator for Your Project
The right simulator connects your training programme with the possibilities of your venue. Start with your audience and lesson formats. Then compare working surface, incline capabilities and operational requirements.
Optimal, Vertical and Direction at a glance
On a small screen, swipe the table horizontally.
| Series | Incline control | Example teaching brief | Check before selection |
|---|---|---|---|
| Optimal → | Fixed platform incline; adjustable belt speed | Repeatable exercises on a constant slope geometry | Working surface, lesson format and installation dimensions |
| Vertical → | Adjustable longitudinal incline | Change steepness between exercises or during the session | Usable height and movement envelope at the intended incline |
| Direction → | Adjustable longitudinal and lateral incline | Exercises that deliberately use changing slope geometry | Movement clearance in both axes and a coaching plan that uses it |
These examples are starting points, not exclusive audience categories. The appropriate size and configuration are selected separately for your project.
If a constant incline meets your teaching brief, start with Optimal. If you need changing steepness, compare Vertical. If lateral incline is also part of your training programme, include Direction. Then choose size and equipment against your venue and lesson plan.
Start with the sessions you want to offer
A city club offering beginner lessons, a ski school teaching technique and a centre for experienced athletes have different priorities. Decide whether you will offer skiing, snowboarding or both, and how children’s programmes, individual lessons and groups fit into the plan.
Define the session structure too: active practice, rest, rotation and supervision. The number of people training simultaneously is not automatically the number of customers you can serve per hour.
Three series, three approaches to incline control
Optimal: fixed incline
Optimal provides a fixed platform incline and adjustable belt speed. It suits programmes where a constant slope geometry supports the intended lessons. Check the available working surface and full equipment dimensions as carefully as you would for an adjustable platform.
Vertical: adjustable longitudinal incline
Vertical allows the steepness of the slope to change. Instructors gain additional ways to match conditions to exercises and participants. The venue must accommodate the intended platform movement.
Direction: longitudinal and lateral incline
Direction changes both incline axes. Changing slope geometry creates additional tasks for movement control and technique. These capabilities bring value when your team uses them purposefully in its lessons. Include space and movement requirements alongside the training programme in your selection.
Consider working surface and teaching together
Compare usable surface width and length, intended participant numbers and the space needed for your exercises. A larger model can support different teaching formats but needs a suitable venue layout. Confirm the intended simultaneous use for the specific configuration.
Compare the full project scope
Alongside equipment, allow for transport, handling, installation, building work, utilities, training equipment and staff training. Running costs include staffing, rent, energy, cleaning and maintenance. Compare quotations on an equivalent scope and agree who is responsible for each part.
PROLESKI provides a 36-month warranty on the equipment and training surface. Remote technical and software support is free during and after the warranty period, with no mandatory support subscriptions. The quotation and contract define the applicable warranty terms and service scope.
Build a practical shortlist
- Describe your audience and lesson formats.
- Have your floor plan and usable height assessed.
- Define the working surface and incline functions you need.
- Plan investment and operation using realistic occupancy assumptions.
- Check configuration, training, installation and service in the quotation.
For particularly intensive sports training, the Sport Series may also be relevant. Discuss your requirements with PROLESKI before finalising the shortlist.
